Description
The common jellyfish has a transparent bell in which the reproductive organs (gonads) are clearly visible as four rings. The edge is provided with a dense row of tentacles. On the bottom side there are four short mouth-arms. It is not harmfull to humans.
The polyps of the common jellyfish have a tapered shape with long tentacles. They multiply asexually and each polyp will produce 12 to 14 medusae. They can be found hanging on rocks in quiet areas.

Size
The maximum diameter of the bell is 400 mm.
The polyps are 20 mm long.

Colour
Transparent to glassy. The male gonads are yellowish and the females more pinkish. The polyps are white.

Habitat
Open water. The polyps hanging on hard substrata down from the ceiling of small caves
