Description
The Mallow skipper is only distinguishable from C. tripolinus (False Mallow skipper) by differences in the genitalia of the males. They are a real sun lovers and often found on stone or sand basking in the sun with spread wings.

Size
Wingspan up to 30 mm. The caterpillar reaches a length of 20 mm.

Habitat
Diversified places where of rocks, sand, grass and flowers. Hibernation takes place as a caterpillar in the soil near the foodplant, protected by a number of leaves held together with silk.

Foodplants
Zebra Mallow (Malva sylvestris), Common Mallow (M.neglecta), Musk Mallow (M.moschata).

Flight season
From May to September in several generations.

Distribution
North Africa and central Europe. C. tripolinus is only known from the Atlantic coast of Portugal and Spain.
