Description
Cerianthus lloydii has two different kind of tentacles. On the outer rim of the oral disc it has long tentacles and in the centre shorter and thinner ones. It lives in a tube buried in sand or gravel.

Size
The outer tentacles are no longer than 60 mm. The column which usually is not visible, can have a length of 210 mm and a diameter of 10 mm.

Colour
The colour of the tentacles is violet, pink, white or brown. Sometimes the have a uniform colour, but the inner tentacles can have a different colour. You can also find animals with two coloured outer tentacles.

Habitat
Cerianthus lloydii lives on sandy substrate or gravel, from just below the low tide line till depths of 100 m. They prefer a good current, but it should not be too strong.

Distribution
North Atlantic ocean from Greenland till the Azores and the Mediterranean.
