Description
This worm does not only have an odd body shape, but it also has fluorescent hair. The animal lives a flexible parchment-like tube. The middle part of the body is used to filter food from water. This section consists of 5 segments covered with a slimy reticulated layer. By body motion a current is created in the tube and food that enters will be gathered in this reticulated layer. When enough food is gathered, it is brought to the mouth.

Size
This worm can grow up to a length of ± 250 mm, with a width of 25 mm.

Colour
The body is white to whitish yellow in color with a gray to gray-green middle part.

Habitat
In or on fine sand to muddy bottoms.

Distribution
Worldwide in all temperate and tropical seas.
