Description
Ascidians begin their lives as many other animals, as larvae released into the free water. At this stage the larvae has a primitive brain, a nervous system and also a kind of spinal cord. This stage is only very brief and only intended to spread in a widere area. Once settled, the brain and spinal cord will disapear and the animal will live its entire live at the same spot. Free swimming larvae can attache to floating objects or ships and spread worldwide.

Colour
Almost translucent to milky white with a striking yellow to orange border around the orial and atrial siphon.

Habitat
This ascidian can tolerate low salinity and can be found in massive numbers in harbours.

This species has a global distribution.
