Description
Halecium halecium consists of a main stem with feather like branches to left and
right. The branches are alternating along the stem. These animals catch small
pray out of the water and therefore they need a current. This hydroid is also
called herring-bone coral, witch has a similar meaning like the Dutch name.
Size
The colony can reach a height of 250 mm.
Colour
The colour can vary from beige-brown to orange-brown.
Habitat
This hydroid likes hard substrata and turf blocks, from several meters down to
large depths.
Distribution
Atlantic ocean and Pacific ocean.
