Description
The sea grape is a small inconspicuous ascidian, often covered with mud, because the mantle is covered with tiny hairs. The body is round and has two small chimneys; the inhalent and exhalent opening. When pinched above water, it will spray water and that is the origin of it Dutch common name.

Size
An average of about 30 mm to 7 mm long exhalent opening.

Colour
Gray to grayish green.

Habitat
In shallower water, usually partially buried in soft substrate.

Distribution
Northern Atlantic and northern Pacific.
