Description
The genus Nereia consists of only four species and Nereia filiformis is the only species that occurs in the Mediterranean area. The 10 mm long plumes that consist of many thin wires are typical. This makes it easy to identify this species. The thick branched stems clearly taper to the ends. It is an epiphytic plant (live on but, not parasitic) that particularly lives on Peyssonnelia species. Can be found from spring to summer in shady areas. It is not very common species.
