Description
This moth varies in color. Usually the main color is gray or brown. The C-shaped black spots are absent in males. It is especially active at dusk.

Size
Wingspan 30 mm to 40 mm.

Habitat
This moth occurs in areas with deciduous trees and are shrubs.

Food plants
The food consists of various trees and plants, such as Quercus (oak), Salix (willow), Betula (birch), Crataegus (Hawthorn), Urtica (nettle), Vaccinium myrtillus (blueberry), Rumex (sorrel) and Filipendula ulmaria (meadowsweet).

Flight season
From March until May
