Description
The Parastichopus regalis has a flattened body with a clear top and bottom. The ventral side is provided with warts and lobes and a ring of spines along the margin, on the dorsal side tube feet. Due to it's body shape it can move over soft sediment. Organic food is filered from the sediment. This build is different from most other sea cucumbers and it doesn't have a Cuvierian organs. This species, however, can emit his intestines to distract an enemy. Within a few weeks back these will be regenerated. The parasitic fish Campus acus often live in the intestines.

Size
Adults can reach a length of about 30 cm.

Colour
From very light brown to orange brown.

Habitat
On sandy and muddy floors from a few meters depth and probably to very large depths.

Distribution
North eastern Atlantic Ocean including the Mediterranean Sea, Gulf of Mexico and Mauritania.
