Description
This goby is due to its striking appearance, not to be confused with others species from the large goby family. It has two dorsal fins and the first one has an anterior dark spot. It often lies in pairs or small groups on soft ground and in case of danger escaping into nearby burrows or crevices. Females can carry upto 12,000 eggs, that are laid in several holes, before being fertilized by the male. This takes place in spring. The leopard goby feeds on worms, shrimps and other small crustaceans.

Size
This goby can grow up to 13 cm in length.

Colour
The body is light grey and is provided with striking dark dots.

Habitat
The leopard goby can occur from the shallowa to a depth of 40 meters, on sand and gravel floors near rocky walls.

Distribution
The eastern part of the Atlantic Ocean and the entire Mediterranean.
